My name is Niveditha Kalavakonda. I am a Ph.D. student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Washington. I am affiliated with the BioRobotics Lab, and work with Prof. Blake Hannaford in the field of Robotics and Computer Vision. My research focuses on applications in surgical robotics and application to the field of medicine in general. My collaborators include Dr.Laligam Sekhar, Dr. Kris Moe and others from the Harborview Medical Center (Downtown Seattle) and the School of Medicine at University of Washington – Seattle.
During my time at the University, I have worked as a Fellow at Laboratory for Analysis of Motion and Performance (AMP Lab), a joint initiative between the College of Engineering and School of Medicine at University of Washington, Seattle.
My current research interests are Computer Vision/Perception and Human-Robot Interaction applied to healthcare. I have also worked on projects in Virtual/Augmented Reality and Game Development. If you have a project that needs a roboticist, that’s where I come in!
I am also passionate about introducing children and young adults to the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). I work on hobby projects to enable hands-on involvement with technology.
