Trello To Google Sheets

Posted onby

Trello currently has an export feature that is available to all board members, including board Observers. It can be found under the Board Menu > More > Print and Export. The format is JSON, which lends itself well to technical usages, but doesn't load into common programs like Excel. Thus, the export is primarily for people looking to crunch the data with programs of their own or just to back up their data in case of emergency. It is not currently possible to import a JSON export to re-create a Trello board.

Export your board data from the board's menu.

As to our attitude toward your data, we are definitely pro-data portability. Please see https://trello.com/privacy.

For more information about how to read Trello's JSON export, please see Making Sense of Trello's JSON Export.

Export all boards with Trello Business Class

Trello Business Class lets you export all of the boards in your Workspace in both CSV and JSON format. You can also include all of your attachments as a .zip file in their native format. To do so, go to your Business Class Workspace page and select the 'Export' tab.

How Trello + Google Sheets Integrations Work Step 1: Authenticate Trello + Google Sheets. ( 30 seconds) Step 2: Pick one of the apps as a trigger, which will kick off your automation. ( 15 seconds) Step 3: Choose a resulting action from the other app. ( 15 seconds) Step 4: Select the data you want. First of all, open your Google Sheets Spreadsheet that you want to integrate with Trello. Hence to do that, click on “Add-ons”, here you can choose the option called ‘Pabbly Connect Webhook’. But since you are hearing Pabbly Connect for the first time, this add-on is obviously not installed in your system. An importer is a “bridge” between a spreadsheet and a data source. For our use case, we need to erect two “bridges” to pull data from Trello to Google Sheets. Run Coupler.io: You’ll see it in the Add-ons menu of your spreadsheet. Open the dashboard, click +Add Importer and select JSON Client.

  • Trello currently has an export feature that is available to all board members, including board Observers. It can be found under the Board Menu More Print and Export. The format is JSON, which lends itself well to technical usages, but doesn't load into common programs like Excel. Thus, the export is primarily for people looking to crunch.
  • Of course the Google Sheet was the best option to share, but Trello Free version won’t let you export a list or cards at all. You may opt for plugins, but well, Free Trello. Technically, all you need is a JSON Parser, but using third party apps and sharing data was not an option. It must travel from TRELLO to Google, no one else involved.

Please note that you'll need to be a Workspace admin to access the 'Export' tab. See trello.com/business-class to learn more.

With Trello Business Class, export your Workspace data with just one click.

Export to Excel / Spreadsheets

If you need spreadsheet support, boards exported with Business Class include CSV exports which can be imported into spreadsheet applications like Excel. Each user in a Business Class Workspace has an option on the board to export to CSV.

Personal Data Export

In addition to the above, you can also export your personal data. We have another article for that that you can find here.
